by LV101 ini know how tech-savvy many of you on board are and i need help finding a poster's avatar -- she's not posted here in many moons but it was awesome poster of 1950s picture of brunette in a dress holding a gun with a cigarette hanging in her mouth -- not real lady like but she's pulls it off.
it's called 'heater, cigarette' online but the poster (picture/whatever) she had was in color and with a quote.
anyone recall - recollect out there?

No. I am amazed at how well-adjusted I have become in my new life, given how mentally and emotionally messed up I had been during my entire pitiful existence.
Learning about the specific stages of grief and understanding my step-by-step movements through each of the five provided tangible proof that I was healing, calming down, accepting who I am and no longer wanting to kill myself.

i remember how sad i was, as a little child, when our beloved carnegie library was razed (unsafe, structurally).
the same tragedy occurred when we moved to a new town and that similar architectural treasure was demolished to put up a new and gleaming building of steel and glass.

I am a very slow and unskilled typist, making detailed replies to all of you nearly impossible. Weird -- a pianist who cannot type. Yet, I relate to so much of what you have written, my having been a child of the '50s.
I devoured everything as a child and took notes on what I read, dictionary at the ready. That has led me, in my dotage, to much satisfying work as an editor (aka Grammar Nazi).

Do you have JW-related dreams (nightmares)?

i guess it's never going away: daytime carryovers of jw-related stuff seeping into my dreams.. the majority of these dreams take place at conventions but with really weird trappings.
last night i dreamed i arrived at the site with no books, no lunch, nothing but my car keys.

I can see, through your comment, that having been a born-in (am I correct?), your influences would have been vastly different. Funny how on my mom's bed -- our at-home library -- were scattered Bibles, movie rags, Astrology Today, The Good Earth, The Egg and I, The Watchtower, Awake!, etc.
Obviously, we were not JWs then!

My dearly departed mom introduced me to literature and the library. Her surviving brother, my uncle, continues to send me books, having taken her place. At Friends of the Library I bought one of Mom's favorites, that originally cost $5.00, way back in 1954. I got it for one dollar.
That book has taken me back home.

I remember how sad I was, as a little child, when our beloved Carnegie Library was razed (unsafe, structurally). The same tragedy occurred when we moved to a new town and that similar architectural treasure was demolished to put up a new and gleaming building of steel and glass. Gone was the rolling green lawn where we read under the shade of a huge and ancient oak.
All the sadness aside, our continued use of literary and musical gems (we had a separate section where we could listen to classical LPs) relocated inside the replacement buildings was what truly mattered.
While we may find the vastness of knowledge available to us at home through the Internet very useful, still, there was nothing like our first discovery of new and alien worlds within the leaves of thousands upon thousands of books residing in the library's sacred walls.
